This work, titled Six by Four, is the culmination of five years of dedication, patience, and unwavering commitment to the authenticity of Iranian carpet art.
The carpet was woven through the collaboration of eleven weavers. In a gesture of respect for the hands that brought this work to life, their names have been immortalized in the carpet in Nastaliq calligraphy.
This Lachak-o-Toranj (corner-pieces and central medallion) carpet was woven using the single-knot technique and incorporates 64 natural plant-based dyes.
The design is based on one of Master Rostam Shirazi’s most distinguished compositions. A harmonious combination of Khatayi floral motifs and Eslimi arabesques unfolds in motion around the central Toranj. The interwoven forms of Simurghs within the Lachaks, the circling birds of prey surrounding the Toranj, and the dome-inspired motif at the center of the carpet together create a carefully balanced and cohesive composition.
The innovative and expressive use of color—free from repetition and guided by the principles of composition and the harmonious juxtaposition of colors—further affirms the authenticity of this work as an Esfahan carpet.
The weaving of this work began during the lifetime of Master Feyzollah Sadrzadeh Haghighi, who remained present throughout the journey until the completion of the first border. From that point onward, the work continued in the spirit of his memory, teachings, and artistic legacy, ultimately reaching completion.
